Whenthinkingaboutthisfilm,severalwordscometomind:cliched,contrived,andconfusing,tonameafew.Inmostsuspensethrillers,theaudiencefindsitselfyellingoutadvicetothemaincharacters,suchas"don’tgointothebasement-thebadguyisthere"or"saveyourself!don’tgobackforyourcat!"Ineverdidthatwiththisone.Itwasn’tbecausethedecisionsthisvictimmakesareanysmarterthananyothersuspensethrillervictim,itwasmorethatIjustreallydidn’tcarewhathappenedtoher.Icouldn’tfeelanysympathyforherbecauseshewassotwo-dimensional.Thenlet’sconsiderthestalker.Heissupposedtomaketheviewerfeelcreepyjustbybeingonscreen.HeisdefinitelynoAnthonyHopkinsorJackNicholson.Frankly,I’veseenepisodesof"MisterRogers’Neighborhood"thatwerecreepier.I’mtiredofactorswhothinkitiseasytoplayapsychopath.Thisfilmdidhaveitsbrightspots,thoughtheywerefewandfar-between.OnescenethatIthoughtwasverywell-done(ifslightlypreposterous)tookplaceinachurchandinvolvedaverycoolpriest.Icansaynomore.IsupposeIsometimesdemandtoomuchofmade-for-TVmovies.Inallhonesty,I’dhavetosaythat"made-for-TVsuspenseVelveeta"ismyfavoritegenre,andwhenviewedinitspropercontext(i.e.oncableatthreeinthemorning),thisfilmisafineexampleofitsgenre.
